Example 1

This example has a family where the father is blood type A- and the mother is B-.  There is one boy with a blood type of AB- and a girl with blood type O-.  The following diagram shows how this can happen:

 

Clearly, because of the differnces in the children, one can quickly discount the possible pairings of AA and BB for the adults.

 

 

Example 2

In this example we face the uncomfortable situation where the father is not the true paternal father.
