My wife recently found out that she was pregnant. The month before, she had a very violent period. She was very sick and bled very heavily throughout the cycle at which time we thought that maybe she had a miscarriage. 

Is it possible to become pregnant the next month had this been the case or is it possible that she was pregnant all along during the time that she was bleeding heavier than normal. 

We found out she was pregnant via a home test and verified it with a doctors visit and he told us that he could hear no heartbeat brining him to the conclusion that she was in the very early stages of pregnancy meaning less than 5 weeks along. I was hoping for a little bit of feed back.

Yes, it is very possible to become pregnant the month following what you suspected was a miscarriage. In fact it is most unlikely that she could have been "pregnant all along".

The Doctor's inability to find a heartbeat is not unusual at this stage and besides, it depends on the instrumentation that is available to him/her. Anyway, it is nothing to worry about at this point. I presume that your wife has set up another meeting with the Doctor to check on the progress, so it is at this follow-up meeting that you should have a clearer picture of the status of the pregnancy.
