Turner's Syndrome is another different form of genetic disorder that only occurs in girls.  As discussed in the article Becoming Pregnant - How It All Happens, men have the sex chromosomes pairing of XY and women have the pairing of XX.  In the case of Turner's syndrome, only a single X chromosome is present (or a portion of the second is missing).

This anomaly occurs roughly between 1 in 2,000  and 1 in 5,000 live born girls and is a random mutation that is not inherited from either parent.

Individuals with Turner syndrome develop as girls but are sterile.  The classic clinical features include short stature, defective development of the gonads and extra skin around the neck (web-necked).  There is no evidence for mental retardation in Turner Syndrome girls.

Medical problems associated with Turner's syndrome include heart, kidney and thyroid problems.
