PaternityAngel Review:

Reading the story of William and Kim, it's easy to become involved in the ups and downs of this emotional journey seen from the husband's perspective. This is compulsive reading all the way from the suddenness of discovering Kim's condition of pre-eclampsia in the 24th week of pregnancy, right through to a hopeful ending which elicits a sense that the 'meaning of life' has changed forever within the mind of a one-time cynic.

In this moving account of a personal real-life drama, William Woodwell Jr. manages to tell his story without resorting to the artistic embellishments found in so many autobiographical accounts of family  trauma. For a 'first-timer' in this area, the prose is refreshingly direct and honest, the medical information is well researched and accurate, yet the pages remain very fluent and highly readable.

This book is not one of those stories that gets you down at each turn of the page and it is not simply a story of loss and bereavement; it is more of a true story of life, reality and hope. It should appeal to anyone with an interest in pregnancy and birth, and what's more, doctors and nurses working in the field of premature births would do well to read his story, to get a view of life from the 'customer' end of things.
